Which is the best way to handle shows episodes.
In separate episode folders such as:
Version 1: “D:\ClassicTV\Andy Griffith\001\A\Barney’s First Car.mpg”
OR
Version 2: “D:\ClassicTV\AndyGriffith\AndyGriffith_001A.mpg”
With version 1, you can tie the name and a description of the episode
directly to the file which may come in handy as you add more episodes or want
to pull info for Dynamic PSIP.
Version 2 has the advantage is you can quickly scan to see if a segment is
missing.
Version 1 requires a small free program to go through the playlist and
change the episode each week.
Version 2 changes the episode within the automation software.
I will even throw in a Version 3 that changes the naming of the folders each
week. In this system, the folder that is suppose to air that week is labeled
“1” and Show Episodes are labeled “001”-“101”. If Episode 3 played last week
and Episode 4 is suppose to play this week, first thing it would do is
relabeled “1” to “003”, then change “004” to “1”. This system would require no
changes to the automation playlist. There would be a small text file with the
episode number in the folder in case there was a power glitch and the renaming
process got stopped in the middle.
Trying to come up with a way to automatically change episodes in older
systems.
