A few days ago I found a really cool free program that would be great for
stations that do live news or events in the community.
The free app is called Larix Broadcaster and will work on your Android or
iPhone.
With the app, you can send a live RTMP video / audio stream to your station
for news remotes. You can use the Raspberry Pi solution discussed earlier in
this thread to catch the stream and decode to HD video and audio.
I've tested this a few times on my station and it worked well. Quality
obviously depends on the speed of your cellular connection. In addition to
news, this could also be an easy way to televise public meetings, rallies,
parades, etc.
The app also has a built in IFB solution so that it's possible for personnel
at the station to talk with the on site reporter and give cues and direction.
(You'd have to set up other software at the station that's really designed
for radio streaming to do this - but that software is free too.)

By the way, I wasn't familiar with streamyard.com <http://streamyard.com/>.
They have an interesting setup which would be really handy for news
interviews and other shows where guests can be at their own location and can
participate with a computer with built in camera and no software to load.
The pricing seems very affordable too.

Jon that's a great idea. We started using streamyard to stream and will
have our first game this week.
My question is how to automatically insert the stream on the TV channel?
We cover three teams. Is there a way to automatically insert each game on a
separate channel?

So high school softball and football season are just about here in my neck
of the piney woods of Georgia. We stream games live on Ridgeline TV and in
preparation for the season I was checking out my equipment and discovered
that the device which captures my live streams was corrupt.
I use a tiny Raspberry Pi circuit board computer to catch the live feed,
play it out to video and redirect the stream to YouTube and Facebook.
Unfortunately, I did not make a backup of the software and configuration,
so I had to dive in and figure it all out again.
Luckily, I got it going and it works like a charm!!
So I'm posting this because some of you may have need for a similar way to
receive a live stream for your station. I'm learning how to make a backup
copy of the OS / software / configuration for myself and will make copies
for any of you who needs it. A Raspberry Pi 3 costs about $35, so this is
very affordable solution. Also, the software is free and open source.
The way this is configured is that the Pi runs NGINX server software and
when a RTMP stream is sent to the Pi, the stream is automatically decoded
fullscreen through the HDMI connector. NGINX can also be set up to
redirect the stream to your YouTube or Facebook account (or other social
media sites.) You can use free or low-cost streaming software like Vmix or
OBS (plus capture card) to originate your live stream.
