Hello Friends of the Institute,
Grapes are one of the oldest cultivars, with roots going back over 8,000
years. They have been grown around the globe and can survive in Wisconsin
with a little TLC. Grapes can be a long-lasting investment and require
thoughtful siting and annual care and pruning. In return they provide a
flexible fruit suitable for the table, dehydrator, or wine bottle. In this
workshop, you’ll learn the basics of planting, pruning, and caring for
young grape vines, suitable for a backyard grower. We're especially excited
to have Judith Reith, a long-time grape vine researcher and expert in
Wisconsin grapes in to teach this class.
