Jonathan,
I enjoyed the day as well, particularly after the wet start.Good pics of the
Dukes. Again, I appreciate the locations you picked out. They turned out to be
excellent. Here is the total list, As I told you, I quit counting Hackberrys,
Pearls and Carolina Satyrs and will list them as A(bundant). Actually, I feel
it would be fair to characterize the Hackberrys as VA (very A ).
1 Pipevine ST
3 E. Tiger ST
7 Cloudless Suls
10 Little Yellows
1 Sleepy Orange
4 Red-banded HS
2 Gray HS
6 Snouts
1 Gulf Frit
17 Phaon Cres
A Pearl Cres
2 Buckeyes
15 Question Marks
11 Viceroys
25 Red-spotted Purples
VA Hackberry Emps
A Caro. Satyrs
1 Silver-spotted Sk
A Horace's DW
9 Trop Checkered-sk
2 Least Sk
1 So. Sklg
7 Cloudless Sk
1 Fiery Sk
8 Duke's Sk (at two different locations)
2 Broad-winged Sk
3 Dun Sk
We saw 15 Horace's, a Red-spotted Purple, some Pearls and at least one Snout
puddling in the parking area for the trail to the Observation Tower. Then at
the boat launch, there was a puddle party of 14 Red-spotted Purples, 11
Question Marks, 4 Hackberrys, 2 Snouts, 2 Horaces, a Tropical C-S and a Pearl.
Jonathan got some good pics of these parties and I understand he will post them
on his webpage. Check them out. It was amazing to see all of the Red-spotted
Purples.
I'll let everyone know how many new species we added to the Concordia parish
list. Next up, Tensas Parish.
Jonathan, send me a picture of the sedge on which we saw the female Duke's
oviposit. I will send it to Dr. Charles Allen for id.

Hey Craig,
Great time today. Thanks again for coming and I learned a lot. I tried
posting to laleps w/ the photos of the Duke's but the "Delivery to the
following recipient failed permanently", to quote the message I got back. Maybe
it doesn't allow the attached photos or something? Anyway, I'm attaching the
Duke's Skipper photos here for you.
I look forward to seeing the complete list -- I probably have all the
species, but not the accurate total numbers, in my list. I'll upload a bunch of
the photos from today to my flickr account later when I have some time and
share that link w/ you if you'd like to review any of the images.
Thanks again, looking forward to Tensas Parish some point in the near-ish
future.
Jonathan
