Subject: Re: Thursday 9th June Walking
I remember this walk. Well I would, wouldn’t I? It was my walk - I was due to
lead it, and it was pouring with rain. That’s my modus operandi.
We did abandon it, but we reassembled at a later date and successfully walked
it, albeit in inclement but more bearable weather.
Maybe I should stay away tomorrow to give you all a chance of finishing it
without getting wet through. What’s it worth?

Dear Lotsw,
I have survived all that Jubileeing, I'm not quite sure of the vote of
confidence yet, but I am looking to move forward; forward that is until
Thursday the day after tomorrow. And, since I always try my best to keep my
word. And since rummaging through the rubbish in my in-tray it seems there has
been as yet no volunteer for the leadership this Thurs, my suggestion is :-
When I was younger and a new initiate into this illustrious group, I remember
standing in the cold and wet one Thursday morning in the car-park of "The Fox
and Goose" on Pudding Hill. We were debating the pros and the cons of pursuing
our enterprise. As I recall there wasn't a vote however the cons won the day
and we gave up and went home. I would like to revisit that place and hope for
a better outcome.
So 10am Thursday 9th June in the car-park of the Fox and Goose on Pudding Hill
at Wigley
From Owler Bar go south on A621 towards Baslow, before going down the hill turn
left onto Clodhall lane. It's a straight road that on the right goes up to the
Curber Edge car park, but you've turned left! Don't give up, just keep going
straight cross tempting junctions you'll join a broader road coming in from
your right but that's OK, keep right on. But slow down the Fox and Goose is on
your left at S42 7JJ
The walk will include hill tops and valleys, lakes and fields, sunlit uplands
and shady glades, there will be birds flying about, rabbits running here and
there, and there ... over there, amongst those trees ... is that a rhinoceros
? It will be wonderful, how could you miss it ?
Best wishes
Gordon
