^The idea of being "from" some place is interesting.  I was born in California, but how can I be "from" Californian inasmuch as I am still here?

^Also, I was the only person in my platoon in boot-camp where I learned that there are only two things that come from California, "hot rods and queers" and inasmuch as none of my fellow boots could see wheels on me, I must be queer.  All of my fellow boots seemed to know this, but I, born in California, did not.

^Also, I learned from Ancestry.com "that [my] DNA looks most like DNA 'from' these 4 world regions": 58% from England & Northwestern Europe, 31% from Scotland, 6% from Germanic Europe, and 5% from Wales.  Since I have never been to any of those places, physically, in what sense am I "from" them?
