Why do so many contemporary authors feel the need to thank a person called
Shirley or Sue or Tracy for "making this work possible" or something in
those lines ? Does that this imply that you need someone's permission to
write a book, or else ? Or that you are completely incapable of doing
anything else while writing a book so you need a full-time tutor ? How do
wives / girlfriends etc. make writing possible ?
