Stephen Schwartz is an interesting fellow. He is a Muslim with a special
interest in the Balkans, but he is not your ordinary Muslim. He is a Sufi with
a typical Sufi hatred of Wahhabism. In the above article he deplores the
Wahhab inroads into the Balkans -- not Kosovo -- Kosovo remains steadfast, but
in other regions. Sufi Muslims hope for help in their battle against Wahhabism
and Islamism from Europe, but they seem to be hoping in vain: "They seem
destined to be disappointed. European states are frozen in a posture of
accommodation, wilful oblivion, ignorance, and simple denial of reality: The
enemy will not be beaten so long as he finds places to rekindle his jihad."
