Judy, I couldn't access this site either. However, I got out of everything
and just listed his name on Google. A YouTube site came up that I could
access. However, it seemed a pretty old video and the sound wasn't very
good. I saw an interview where he retired at the age of 16 because his
voice had started to change -- no Bizarro operation for him. When asked, he
thought he might get into acting. But then I saw a later video with him as
an adult -- still singing.

I especially like the Mezzo-Soprano and contra-alto voices, but that is one
of the shocking things about Evancho. As a little girl, why would she have
the lower range and not the higher -- maybe she does, but I doubt it?

Lawrence

the link is youtube, Lawrence. It's Aled Jones, there's a lot of him on
youtube but this particular clip comes from a terrifically good BBC
documentary about him, years ago.

(I've now seen your other email, and Erin's. Strange you can't view that
video, but try this -- same song, rather different performance

if you search youtube for Aled Jones, ombre mai fu, you may find a version
of the original you can watch)

I don't know whether I think Jackie Evancho is better than Charlotte Church
was, I want to find some more videos from that time.

Judy,  Alas, I have 64-bit Windows 7 and Adobe doesn't have the requisite
flash player for that yet.  What is this young man's name?  Maybe he's on
YouTube.  Yes, I saw early Charlotte Church.  I was impressed with her at
the time, but my impression as that Jackie Evancho is better.  I hope our
resident Bizarro is wrong about how Jackie Evancho achieved her polished
voice.  Lawrence  From: lit-ideas-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx

Date: Thursday, 19 August, 2010, 17:27 Eric, No doubt you have heard of
Jackie
Evancho: http://www.tvsquad.com/2010/08/11/an-incredible-10-year-old-opera-s
inger-on-americas-got-talent/ How is it possible for a ten-year-old girl to
have such a well-developed operatic voice?  A friend who heard her said
Jackie reminded her of something from the exorcist.  Her voice is beautiful,
but it is bizarre that she should have it. I didn't have that reaction.  I
listened to her several times and she brought tears to my eyes on each
occasion.  She is a prodigy.  I just hope her managers don't ruin her
life.  Lawrence
