From Tylor's "Anthropological Encounters with the Haitian Indians"

"Then Maj. Roberts pointed to me a rough carving on a log." "What does it
read?", I asked him. As he paced to decipher the runic symbols, he said,
"It's a "B", and another "B" and a "Q"", "Mmm", I said, "bee bee kew". I'll
write that down. It smells funny, too." "And there are hog's hairs nearby,
look."
"Must be some cooking method, _or other_."
