I apologize to Larry Kramer, I mistook L H Kramer for Lawrence Helm for
some reason. My criticisms were meant for Mr. Helm, not Kramer.

For the record, this is part of the biblio ref. in R. Paul's link -- that
Geary was commenting on: 'moral luck' entry in the Stanford online encycl.
authored by D. Nelkin, below.

I enjoyed the ref. by Nagel to Argentina. He says that if the Nazi
collaborators would have been transferred by their companies to Argentina in
1929,
'they possibly could have led exemplary lives'. Pretty vacuous, no?

----

I also enjoyed Nagel (he WAS a tutee of Grice at St. John's, while a Rhodes
scholar for his DPhil) opening his essay with Kant on 'good will' that
Grice also quotes in PPQ 1986 -- with Grice adding, "Surely the same thing can
be said about ill-will" (the 'diamond that shine' analogy by Kant).

---- I enjoyed Williams's recognising that his intention was to provide an
'oxymoron', when he suggested 'moral luck'. Nagel should NEVER have given
so much importance to the thing.

Cheers,

J. L. Speranza
