Andreas Ramos wrote: "Anyone read books by Michael Oakeshott? What do you think of him?" I have read some of his stuff. The style of writing is a bit difficult, but well worth the effort if one wants an alternative to much of the stuff one finds in political philosophy. I particularly like the 'ship of state' metaphor that he develops. "Rationalism in Politics" is an essay worth reading. A good antidote for both neo-conservativism and contemporary liberal thought.
