I read years ago, somewhere, that "Salesman" was translated into Chinese and performed in China. Must have been 20 years ago or more. Miller was there for the performance. When the curtain fell, the audience, most all Chinese, were in tears. How's that for universal themes and humanity? My deceased colleague, Bob Alvin, played Willy in a performance somewhere, and his wife, Ruth, told me that for many weeks during rehearsals he was Willy himself--method actor, you know--and impossible to live with during that time. Great play in the classical tradition of striking universal chords. Someone must listen to me...., Bill Ball > -----Original Message----- > From: lit-ideas-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:lit-ideas- > bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Judy Evans > Sent: Friday, February 11, 2005 11:27 AM > To: lit-ideas@xxxxxxxxxxxxx > Subject: [lit-ideas] Arthur Miller >=20 > http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/arts/4258065.stm >=20 >=20 > -- >=20 > mailto:judithevans001@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx >=20 >=20 > ------------------------------------------------------------------ > To change your Lit-Ideas settings (subscribe/unsub, vacation on/off, > digest on/off), visit www.andreas.com/faq-lit-ideas.html ------------------------------------------------------------------ To change your Lit-Ideas settings (subscribe/unsub, vacation on/off, digest on/off), visit www.andreas.com/faq-lit-ideas.html
