Went to see French outfit Vialka (http://www.vialka.com) at Mir
(http://www.lufthavna.no) last night. Fusion of operatic vocals ala
Brecht/Weil, African Maskanda guitars, poignant lyrics ("There is no Love,"
"Unreliable Narrators"), unusual vocal harmonies and a distinct stage presence.
It was part of their Northern Winter Beat Tour, an express series of
appearances in Scandinavia, Germany, BeNeLux, etc. The tour has limited dates
as band members are rushing to return to their infant baby in Nice, France.
