Harold Bloom would roll over in his grave if he read the above . . . if he
hadn't broken his back and was able to roll over . . .
When I was very young and content to educate myself with the "classics", I
got issues of the Harvard Classics from the Good Will Store. Later I
subscribed to the "Classics Club" which published equivalent classics - the
books Bloom would agree were classics. I see only about six or so on the
Amazon list that would qualify as classics . . . in the old days . . . when
classics were dependent upon a different standard than whatever Amazon uses.
