Subject: PhD-positiob in Regulatory Ecotoxicology
Dear all,
Please help me forward this to anyone that might be interested!
I am looking for a PhD-student in Regulatory Ecotoxicology! The person should
have a background in (eco)toxicology, environmental chemistry, environmental
science, risk assessment or the like. Knowledge of chemical regulation and
chemical risk assessment is meritorious. Ability to manage projects and
independently working in close contact with several different actors is
important, as well as documented ability to write scientific texts in English.
The project aims to contribute to better risk assessments and management of
chemicals in the EU, with specific focus on the Baltic Sea. The overall
objective is to enhance the development of systematic and transparent risk
assessments, which is critical for sustainable use of chemicals and for
reaching the environmental objective A Non-toxic Environment. We will study the
actual working of the current EU regulation, such as REACH and the Water
Framework Directive, using literature studies, and possibly interviews with
relevant experts. The work will include scrutinizing and examining legal
documents and guidance published by the European Chemicals Agency and the
European Commission, environmental data submitted by the chemical industry, and
chemical assessments performed by scientific committees. An example of previous
projects of similar nature can be found here:
