sto provando ad connettere un dispositivo USB ad un portatile con Ubuntu

Il dispositivo funziona quando lo connetto a macchine Windows e ho
provato due dispositivi diversi ottenendo lo stesso risultato. Altri
dispositivi USB funzionano sullo stesso portatile (ho provato solo con
un convertitore RS232-USB, non avevo altro sotto mano, proverò con
qualcos'altro).

È un sacco di tempo che non ho problemi con dispositivi USB e Linux,
quindi non so dove cercare per una possibile soluzione. Qualcuno ha idee
o suggerimenti?

Lsusb che dice?

Nulla di rilevante a riguardo del dispositivo in questione, non viene
rilevato come un dispositivo collegato al bus USB. L'aggeggio in
questione non ha un driver in kernel space, quindi mi basta che sia
"visto" dal sistema USB. Comunque:

Le porte usb esterne (tutte quelle che ho trovato e provato) sono
connesse al bus 03.

Hai provato con un kernel più recente?

Non ancora, ho da poco scoperto che in Ubuntu 14.4 ci sono pacchetti di
kernel più recenti.
