Se richiede il DHCP attivo devi comunque avere una macchina sempre attiva.
Non è così, visto che il router/ap Adsl ha senz'altro un server DHCP integrato.

Il NAS SC101 fai-da-te della Netgear ha [avuto?]
grossi problemi di surriscaldamento, tendeva a
"tostare" i dischi. Non so se adesso è
migliorato, cmq se vedi il forum di supporto ti fai un'idea...

Gli unici veri vantaggi sono il prezzo e la possibilità di aprirlo.
The main issues (from my point of view) currently seem to be:
- Due to its 100MBit Interface the device appears to be slow
- The underlying UDP-DataTransfer does not
guarantee delivery of data which ís very problematic in wireless environments
- The proprietary Zetera-Filesystem does offer
only limited recovery-methods for data (currently)
- The current implementation of the
Zetera-Filesystem appears to be faulty as it is
loosing a lot of valuable space
- Many users experience problems in attaching the drives
- The possible mirroring of drives appears to be unstable and often breaks
- As the device is a SAN, the sharing is on a
per-drive basis. There is no possibility to
prevent users from deleting each others data on a shared drive.

di recente però la mia preferenza è caduta su questo:

"Tendenzialmente" è meglio evitare le soluzioni NAS. Oltre ad avere un
costo mediamente superiore allo storage puro, offrono meno funzionalità,
meno flessibilità e meno affidabilità. A mio avviso è preferibile
utilizzare un classico PC con linux e software di gestione
preconfezionato...
Non sono del tutto d'accordo. Per il backup di
rete un piccolo NAS è la soluzione ottimale,
molte meno rogne e consumi di un PC. Poi per lo
storage "serio" basta salire di gamma... e ridondare!
