[Linux-Discussion] Must I remove the old apache to install the newest one?

Thanks to all who have been helping me w/ redhat 6.2

out of the box redhat 6.2 has apache 1.3.12-2
the redhat errata for RH6.2 has apache 1.3.19 available
our dedicated server has apache 1.3.20-6
---------------------------------

I see a few apache 1.3.20 versions on rpmfind.net

the versions listed at at
http://rpmfind.net/linux/rpm2html/searcy.php?querry=apache+1.3.20
say they are for Mandrake Cooker, EnGarde, Polish(ed), RawHide
and SourceForge

How do I pick one for my machine?
(I know enough to ignore the rpm's for alpha and sparc)

-----------------------------------------
the instructions at http://apache.org are for compiling...
I'm willing to try that, but must I rpm -e the existing apache first?

I'm trying to get a local machine to match the expensive
dedicated server we just got.

Thanks
David Bruce Jr
