Well, to be even more fair, *in 1997* he said that the Mach microkernel (which is at the core of kernels like Darwin, MkLinux, and GNU Hurd) is crap. Which doesn't automatically mean he consider MacOS X crap *now*, as some hit-hungry websites would like to imply. Linus is far from being always right, he knows it and often reserves himself the right to change his mind, after all even Tannenbaum changed his mind and released Minix under a BSD license (yes, with the annoying advertising clause, unfortunately, but it couldn't be done differently). Anyway, the recipe used by the hit-hungry sites above is simple: when the hit rate is low, take something someone said some time ago, give it the broadest interpretation you can, apply such interpretation to something happening today and write a contentless article about what you just discovered, leaving space for all sort of speculations and rants by readers. A decent hit rate is then assured for the next few days. Repeat from time to time (but not too often, unless you want to completely discredit yourself as an information source). -- UNIX diapers by Pannolini USPTO 2039887 http://www.uspto.gov Matteo Ianeselli ianezz AT sodalia.it (+39) 0461 316452 Visita il LinuxTrent: http://linuxtrent.grinta.net ============================================================= Avenir Web's Linux Discussion List List info: //www.freelists.org/cgi-bin/webpage?webpage_id=13 To unsubscribe: email linux-discussion-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'unsubscribe' in the Subject line.
