UNCLASSIFIED
Gentlemen,

Attached are notes I took for OPORD and LT Long's brief that helped breakdown
his approach. Hope these help.

- 2LT Coleman
UNCLASSIFIED
OPORDERS

WARNO consists of:
- Enemy Situation
- Higher Unit Mission
- Commander's Intent (if available)
- Earlier ToM
- Specific Instructions
- Time and Place of OPORD Delivery

SHOULD ONLY TAKE 10-15 MIN!

EXECUTION:

(Concept of Operations)
- Take Key Task from CDR's Intent and apply to your plan; plan around this
- Put down your papers and notes; READ YOUR SHIT FROM YOUR HEAD; it's your
plan, talk like it is!
- Read it sequentially; tell the story
- Purpose
- 2 & 3 are fighting tanks

(Scheme of Manuever)
- Derive OoM, formations, speed, etc. from Task to Subordinate Units and
Specific Instructions from Higher Level OPORD
- Each phase begins with something and ends with something
- Things in the phases can change; be sure to aknowledge that (assessing the
OPORD and your unit mission)
- Have Evac Plans, Maint Plans! Have this marginal data on your things
- Bring your MIP's down by vehicle
- HAVE A DIRECT FIRE PLAN!
- Big detail! Big display / poster!

(Fires)
- Break down what you are responsible for for your PLT
- HQ = BLACK; 4PLT = GREEN
- Know what you have; don't just call up random ammo to put on your OBJ

(Specific Instructions)
- SPecific Instructions always apply to specific people
- Identify a PRIMARY and ALTERNATE; we fight in sections

(Coordinating Instructions)
- Apply to ALL; not phase or individual specific
- PIR; directly reflects what the Commander "wants to know about the enemy";
CRITICAL INFORMATION!
- FFIR; directly reflects what the CDR "wants to know about us"
- Every phase, CCIR might change; just address that change in the legend on the
phase; don't worry about blanketing CCIR
- On Recon, brief CCIR by phase so no one gets confused on what who is doing
when

(Timeline)
- Located in Paragraph 3
- Brief highlights of timeline; not line by line
- Build a thorough timeline of your own based off of CO's
- Utilize daylight

PULL OUT PLATOON MISSION STATEMENT; WANT DO YOU WANT TO OVERALL ACCOMPLISH?
COPY OUT OF CO. mission
- Key tasks; things you HAVE to do to aCCOMPLISH the mission
Phases- Up to the Commander
