TO: Joel Welty I need to know if you are still in, or out. Haven't heard from you in weeks. Your bio you furnished mentioned a history in non-profits (NGOs). We need to incorporate a non-profit. There are some patented technologies which I would like to avail myself of. That requires currency, medium of exchange. What I have to exchange is equally valuable technology, which is not yet patented. The idea is exchange of reciprical use rights. From my side I need to patent the ideas before I actually have any thing to exchange, as unpatented ideas can just be taken and used without proffering anything back. The non-profit is needed to be the repository of the patents, recipient of donations, and licensor of uses. http://www.ecosyn.us/ecocity/Palaces/New_City/Cement_Posts_Specs.html If you look at the data table I have compiled on the webpage URL above, you will see the value of concrete posts to replace wood and/or steel consttruction members. There is other data on pages linked from that page, which coupled together make patentable inventions. The fact that they can reduce building construction materials costs, and reduce labor costs, and make more ecologicaly benign structures which are sturdier and longer lasting, means the ideas have value. Trade value for use of incorporated patents, and trade value for financing to establish actual demonstration neighborhoods. As you might know, currently there are 2,500,000 people driven homeless in China, India, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Nepal. So far 2003 has had greater flooding area than any two years since records have been kept. China measures its disasters by how many people killed, so the current flooding is rated less than 1991 or 1998 where 5,000 and 4,000 respectively perished. But the area of flooding is greater this year, where a full third of the nations reservoirs are threatened, and if SARS gets into the refugee camps... As you can see by my data table on concrete posts, it takes less than two sacks of cement to hold up 160 tons of 6th floor roof, and 3.3 sacks to hold up the floor walls and roof, of a 40 by 40 by 3 meter top story of the building. This 4,800 cubic meters of housing space, or 8 US-style 2,000 square foot homes. Go to: http://pages.sbcglobal.net/fwehman/index.html and see their high-pressure hydrolic compressed earth brick machines. http://pages.sbcglobal.net/fwehman/MachineSpecs.html This page shows bricks suitable for high production, high volume construction of homes, subdivisions, and commercial installations. It is a fully self-contained machine which can be used anywhere in the world. Block Production Rate: 960 blocks/hr normal (nominal) production set at AECT factory Block Sizes: Variable, depending on clients needs, typical block size is normally 10 x 14 x 3.5 inches (25.4 cm. x 35.6 cm. x 8.89 cm.); interior wall blocks typically 7 x 14 x 3.5 inches (17.8 cm x 35.6 cm x 8.89 cm) Machine makes block for walls of 7, 10, or 14 inch thickness or combinations thereof depending on architectural effects desired. This is patented technology. I need them to modify this machine for me, to produce bricks of a new design. The new design moulds would be patented. The modified bricks make stronger walls, go up faster than conventional, are easier to align, and most importantly function in concert to the concrete posts for an earthquake-resistant building. I can't talk to them until my modification is patented. Hell, I can't even talk to YOU about it yet, because you haven't signed a non-disclosure or made any commitment. http://www.ecosyn.us/ecocity/Palaces/Water_Works/Water_Pump_01.html http://www.ecosyn.us/ecocity/Palaces/Water_Works/Water_Pump_02.html http://www.ecosyn.us/ecocity/Palaces/Water_Works/Water_Pump_01.JPG The gas-pressure water pumps should be patented, again as a trade good to have something to give in exchange for something to get, even if the item gotten is only money. http://www.ecosyn.us/ecocity/Palaces/Octet/Octet_Truss_01.html Here's another item which Buckminster Fuller patented (patent expired), which can be incorporated into a new product, which can then be patented anew. We live in a capitalistic matrix. We have to function according to set parameters, just as our material creations have to. You faced constraints trying to get financing for your co-housing project. I am into problem-solving. If the problem is "functioning in a capitalistic matrix", them patents and a non-profit NGO may be the solution. Since the current US scene has so many obstacles to anything different, I see globalization as the answer. There are 2.5 million new homeless who would be happy to get out of a Red Cross muddy tent ASAP. You and your wife can be the founding directors and officers: one of you President and Secretary, the other one VP and Treasurer. The sost of state incorporation iss trivial in California, and likely modest in Michigan. Federal IRS 501(c)(3) status requires a $500 fee, but allows 18 months to pay it (basicallly they figure if your corporation cannot raise a dollar a day, get lost!). I have an offer from a donor to pay that fee when the time comes, so that is not an obstacle. The big issue of the moment is: are you in, or out? From my part, I am not going to donate patents unless the non-profit charter has corruption-proof clauses which can never be amended. I have been through the hostile take-over of the NGOs before. I have written up all the paperwork for an NGO in Washington which became incorporated, and it is no big deal. I could look up the laws in MI, but this is your area of expertise, and I have a plate full in front of me which can't be delegated away. IF you are IN, I need also your comments on all of the pages. The purpose of this exercise is two-fold: (1) to get another outside perspective on how much I am making clear, and (2) to get more samples of your thought processes. It's hard to trust people I hardly know, and I would appreciate deeper insights into the members of this so-called "working group". Since you self-selected yourself as a subscriber to this e-list, I must have expressed something which you perceived as common ground. You have to tell me what that was. Tomorrow I will upload a new page showing NEW CITIES of 120,000, 150,000, and 1,000,000 people. They range in size from 4 square kilometers (2.54 square miles) to 32 km2 (12.5 mi2). You will see parks within two blocks of every residence and other visible amenities absent from out eco-hostile current culture.
