In February of 2003 This author, Lion Kuntz, opened a new website:
http://www.ecosyn.us. The purpose was to present text and
illustrations for a proposal for ecocity development around the
world, where the public would choose to live in Palaces. The reason
they would choose this, voluntarily, is because many attractive
features would be incorporated within the buildings called "Palaces
For The People".

Some of the attractions would be dependable, sustainable free utility
services provided by ecologically-friendly, non-polluting
technologies deeply integrated within the building architecture.
Solar PV and thermal panels would not only power the residences, but
the buildings would actually have PV breeders built-in which produce
new PV wafers for making new panels at a rate of one per year. That
is, each Palace For The People could grow the silicon wafers needed
to power the next Palace For The People, and they could accomplish
that over time in less than one year.

The solar power is only the base of the technologies which stores 8
million liters of pure water in a cistern beneath the building, using
the coolth of the earth to cool the building by flowing this water
through plumbing pipes within the walls and floors of the building.
Instead of conditioning the air for air-conditioning, this conditions
the whole building. A reverse of this occurs during cooler weather,
with the water being warmed before circulating. Free hot water is
provided just as easily as a result of burning pure hydrogen gas to
make supplimental electricity when the sun is not shining, and as an
output from the cooling-technology for the solar PV breeder furnace
operation. Cooking stoves would be provided with pollution-free
odorless hydrogen gas. Even the vehicle fleet of the building would
be able to fill up the tanks using pure hydrogen gas, and every
single Palace For The People would be a hydrogen fueling station,
creating the Hydrogen Economy infrastructure.

The most advanced water purification systems of the world would be
provided in two completely separated plumbing systems: one system to
deliver drinking and bathing and laundry water; and a second system
for the toilet flush waters. Both systems have different cleaning
systems which purify the used waters purer than the driven rain.

All of these benefits of free utilities would happen in buildings
using the most advanced construction system in the world. They do not
use any wood in the buildings. They cannot burn. They use some carbon
fibers five times stronger than steel to become much safer than steel
buildings in earthquake country. In areas with danger of flooding,
there are flood-proofing measures and devices which protect the
building from getting wet inside up to five meters in flood height.

I have produced pictures and descriptions. This proposal was
submitted for discussion at the 5th International Ecocity Conference,
Post-Conference Internet Forum, Feb-June 2003. Proceedings are
published here:

Besides discussing this proposal with science workers from five
continents, it has been put before the public in internet forum
discussion groups of several varieties.

Then a friend asked me "Why don't you propose it for the Japanese?"
He reminded me that the Japanese are some of the most hygenic people
of the whole world, who love high-tech. Many Japanese live in very
small homes where they sleep in the main room and fold away their
beds in the closet during the day. A zero-carbon emissions energy
system and solar roofing fits in with the hosts of the Kyoto Treaty
and the 1,000,000 solar rooftops program. So, "Why not the Japanese?"

For the first thing I don't speak any foreign languages, only US
english. For the second thing I could not locate a forum on solar
energy devoted to Japan in the english language. I found no forums on
alternative energy, green building, or other catagories this topic
would fit into. My only resort is to start a forum myself, and
somehow hope that Japanes people who read and write english find this
forum and decide to join. Will this idea work? I do not know. All I
can do is build it, and see if they come.
