I don’t know if this feature already exist in Liblouis, but I did not find
anything related to it in the manual. I hope that it is considered anyway for
its importance.
It is a braille sign to mark the start and the end of foreign language context.
For example, if I am reading an Arabic text, and there is an English word in
the middle of this text, we have a certain mark we put to indicate the start
and the end of this English context. If we say that this mark is dots 456 in
the grade1 braile, you can see this example:
عربي English عربي
Should be translated like this:
⠷⠗⠃⠊⠀⠸⠑⠝⠛⠇⠊⠎⠓⠸⠀⠷⠗⠃⠊
This tells the reader that what is between dots 456 is not Arabic characters,
yet they are latin characters.
I think an opcode like “latChar” from latin characters can be used for this. It
works in a similar way like the emphasis opcodes, but I am not sure if it can
be implemented, and how it can work in back translation.
