Just a reminder of two possibly related cases.
In EBAE, which as of today is no longer the official literary code in the
US, contractions are not allowed in words with partial emphasis, that is,
non-title case words with both small and capital letters and/or words with
changes of typeform within the word.
In UEB contractions are not allowed in the alphabetic portion of
alphanumeric items, such as 5th, if the alphabetic portion follows a numeric
portion.
