As noted earlier, this probably shouldn't be done until after 2.5.1.
I am working on more adequate hash functions, which handle more than 2
characters. This is also a large code change and should not be done
concurrently with the previous one. Which of them should take priority?
The changes to srcMapping clean up the code somewhat and may make
solving future problems easier, but they don't necessarily bring any
real enhancements. If your hash functions are needed to solve immediate
problems, I'd think those should be done first.
