Bryan shared his demo unit of the Oculus Rift (thanks Bryan) at the MARC swap
meet last weekend. That is one of the coolest 3D things for consumer level
stuff I have ever seen at an also decent price point. It is so cool with so
many possibilities within our hobby and even just everyday use, that it seems
almost too good to be true. Well they have hit a snag. They have lost access
to some of their parts supply for whatever reason.
The price point for their existing units is/was $399. With this news, and
being the conspiracy theorist that I am, I see a huge price jump coming when
they decide to "re-enter" the market if they get "re-supplied". Just have a
feeling that they sensed a huge market potential here and this is their effort
to "re-tool" to hit a better profit margin. I may be wrong, I hope I am. But
it is definitely a cool technology and I would like to have a few of these
either in my home, or just to have for FPV flying.
