On Sunday, we had visitors... a woman we've known for years and her two sons.
We'd not seen them for about 8 years, so it was good to "catch up".
The older son, Skyler, is a neat kid. Unfortunately he suffers from many, many
health problems from seizures to attention deficit disorder.
Now 15, his problems are so severe that when a child he was not expected to
live past 10. So he's doing well and plays both Basketball & Ice Hockey, after
school.
When he spotted my camera, he was fascinated, and we spent a pleasant couple of
hours playing with various old cameras. He liked the old thread-mount Pentax
cameras, and particularly liked the my old Beauty Six folder - and the fact
that it was one of only two surviving examples known. No attention deficit
there!
He told me he was starting "Media Arts" at school, but had been told he could
not take photos with his iPad... he must use a camera ... something he could
not understand. It must be a generational thing!
Long story short, I sent him home with an old Olympus T-10 P&S with fresh
batteries and a clean SD card. And a request that he email me some of the
pictures he takes with it.
So, my friends, meet Skyler...
