Hi folks-

I'd Never mix flash units - ever! Trigger voltage differences can cause serious problems - and I'd especially avoid it if a DMR were attached. A used Metz 40MZ or 58MZ with the correct adapter is the way to go, and not all that expensive. And you get all the functionality.

Also - Last weekend I picked up the re-designed 70-200 f2.8 ED VRII Nikkor; the vignetting that occured with the older design on the D3's and D700 is gone! and it has great sharpness and contrast.

But since my main gear is Leica R, I'd like to do a side by side test with the 70-180 f2.8R on the R9/DMR (just have to find the time). I still love the look of the lower ISO DMR files, even over the latest Nikon - but when you have to track sports or fast moving subjects at high ISO, the D3 with AF is the choice. If only Leica would make a DSLR that ... well, you all know.
