Peter, I've owned a couple of CL's. It is a really nice snap shooting
camera, actually more than that. The Summicron C is an outstanding piece
of glass, a little bit smaller than the Summicron 35 lenses. I didn't like
the focus tab on it, but otherwise, it is high quality.
The 90mm in both Minolta and Leitz brands was made in Germany and is also a
good compact shooting lens. The reason it only opens to f4 is that the CL
has a rather short distance between the windows of the RF, and thus is not
accurate at that focal length.
The Leica branded cameras fetch more money but they are the same. There's
also a 28mm C lens that is rather nice and small, but often has some white
spots inside that are difficult and expensive to get fixed and do have a
contrast effect on the image..
If you go for it, make sure the meter works. It has a stalk meter like the
M5 and is supposed to use mercury batteries, but I used silver batteries
with little problem.
Lovely little camera, and a good handful, but kinda light.
