You did not mention which image processing software he is using. If the image processing software he uses will work with a standard DNG file, then he can use Adobe DNG converter. It will convert from the proprietary RAW to a DNG that many things can read, including GIMP. Still RAW, but a more universally acceptable RAW.

A ffriend has asked me for advice regarding free Raw Conversion Software. I've found many, but RawThereapee seems to stand out from the rest. Very complete, very capable, but it crashes a lot.I've changed the 3GB switch in Win 7 to maximize program memory availablity, but it still crashes often. Is there anyone here, who uses RT. and if so, can you offer any advice/help onhow to cure this instability.I've downloaded the latest version: 4.0.12.44 on a Win7 box with 4B ram. Isthere an older version, that has better stability? Many thanks for any and all help. David. ---This email is free from viruses and malware because avast!
