Running after the battle, I think.

Even a 5K grand seems an horror.

I remember the Digilux 3 was 2.5K€ and although surely of great quality, it was
an expensive red dot.

But Leica is right to offer to the market a full frame "Thru the Lens mostly"
camera to revive the great days of the R serie.
The market is ripe!

If they can build a camera in which the sensor can be hauled once in while (at
the factory) rather than buying a new camera each time, hmm why not.

Having a "battered" with brass patina on the bottom but a perfect up to date
sensor, is probably a dream any good Leica adept "wanks for": me and my Leica
went all over the world and, blah, blah, blah.

Just an opinion...

If they could do it for $5000 it would definitely give the Sony some
competition ... it wouild be more, but many would pay more for the Leica
cachet. Not so sure how many would at $8000.

David.

Hold off on the price expectations... the new S Type 007 ( Bond, James Bond)
came out at $16K.. about $8K less than market expectations.....

MirrorlessRumors.com is reporting that in October, they are expecting Leica
to introduce a variation on their Leica Q, but as a full-frame
interchangeable lens system, that "may" resemble the old SL bodies (but
smaller, I would hope!) It is expected to have a new line of AF lenses, but
should also take the original "R" series, via an adapter. Build quality is
said to be of M & Q class ... typical Leica.

This sounds like the oft rumoured "adequate solution" for R users, if true.
At US$8000 including a 50/Summicron, I'm not sure if I'll be stepping up.
