Hi Andy!

Yes, I know. Our bathroom reno started out as a sink replacement. I ended up stripping the room to the studs, building a new vanity, etc. etc.

And like all projects, it followed the 90/10 rule. That rule says that the first 90% of the job takes the first 90% of the time, while the last 10% of the job take the other 90% of the time.

David David David you obviously haven't learned the golden rule of plumbing "if you plan on fixing one item expect to fix four more"
Especially if the wife gets involved. Example I needed to replace the drain pipe on the kitchen sink ended up replacing the pipe, the sink, and the entire counter top. Finished all that then she wanted a new back splash followed by removing wall paper, painting, and installing wainscot. Thirty minute project turned into a full week

Yes, that would have been easier, but Margie wanted to expand the base by about 6 inches, so there was no standard base available. It is hard work, but it is kind of fun. And besides, I get to add a bunch of new tools to my collection. Of course, many are only good if I plan on on doing this again. NOT!!!

Good Morning, Aram!

That's an ambitious project! I removed my tub, to make a walk-in shower, about 18 months ago. Worked well, but a LOT of work! Unlike you, I cheated, and used a tub-sized, factory-made plastic base (about $120) which made life much, much easier.

Good luck with the rest of the project. I'm already looking forward to seeing the final results!

David.

Only one thing going on, and that is my bathroom remodel. Not very artistic, but this was my life for the long 5 day weekend. First shot is my wife removing floor tile. Before you get all huffed up, I removed the tile walls and thought we were done for the day. But then she decided to tackle the floor, so I grabbed a shot before I took over with the tool. This is indeed a joint project and she rips and tears wallboard, mixes mortar, spreads it, tiles and grouts with the best of them.

The rest of the shots are just some of the stages of demolition and reconstruction. Some plumbing to move the shower valve higher since we will not have a tub any more, move the drain to the center, and three days of building the shower pan. So, next week is to tackle the wall Hardyboard, then build the niche and tile. That should be the easy part, or at least the informed part, since we have done lots of tile work on our house. Never built a shower an before, so glad that is over.
I’ll have to fit the rest in between teaching my summer class and sleeping and eating.
