In 1999 I was in Paris on the return portion of an around the world sabbatical. When in Singapore I had purchased a second hand M6 and two lenses. My first day on the streets of Paris a local came up to me and exclaimed "Leica! I used to have one just like yours". After the mandatory Leica talk I complimented him on his excellent English. He said he had gone to college in the USA at a small school in california, Sonoma State University , which I probably never heard of. I told him I got a MA at Sonoma State. It turned out we were there at the same time and had a common friend. You meet the nicest people with a Leica.
