One thing that has fascinated me is the scheme that y’all have developed up for
using sprinklers on the roofs of houses prior to the approach of a inferno.

I've been a little quiet on the list, for a few weeks. As mentioned, some
time back, we've been visiting and helping out our kids, on their farms.
We were supposed to go home last Saturday, but that did not happen, as our
town was evacuated the Thursday evening before, due to the Tremont Creek
Forrest Fire.

The Tremont Creek fire is now estimated at 647 square kilometers in size, so,
while large, not the largest in BC, by any means.
From mapping done by the Wildfire Service, it seems the fire came within 250
yards of our house. Too close for my liking.
However, thanks to the well trained and dedicated wildfire crews, our local
and nearby fire departments as well as the RCMP and the local Search & Rescue
guys, our home - along with every other home - is still standing. :-)
We will not know it's condition, after the exposure to smoke and fire
retardant (which was dropped within 200 feet of the house), until we get home.
Meanwhile, we are safe at our daughter's home, in northern Alberta.
One aspect of the ordeal warmed my heart. Out little town owns two fire
trucks. But, on Saturday, the town was filled with dozens of them, from
nearby communities.
I cannot thank them enough.
