Hi. David, this question is rolling to you since you’re the member here on the
list that probably has the most intense and recent experience with unreasonably
cold temperatures and photographing; but if anyone else has expereinces and/or
tips ofr avoiding problems with equipment and process, please chime right in.
David, when you were shooting the ice-racers a few months ago did your Olympus
OMD EM1 mk2, if that’s what your were using, give you any problems in the
extreme low temperatures that you and the racers plus spectators were
“enjoying”?
I recently viewed a short promo video put out by Leica for their new fixed lens
Q2 during which the photographer joined a crew of back woods skiers that were
airlifted via helicopter to snowy mountains somewhere out there in BC and other
than keeping the camera zipped up next his body underneath a parka when not in
use, the photographer claimed to have no problems in frigid conditions. I know
its a sales promo and they're never gonna tell the whole story but is it a
simple as keeping the equipment nestled under clothing in order to keep things
working, he asked from sunny south central Florida?
Thanks.
Best regards,
Peter S
