Garthwaite's farm is just at the south end of Mamette Lake (about 9 km from our
home) and it's calving season.
Rose was having a "hen party", celebrating a lady friend's birthday, so it was
time get out of the house. Despite a bitter wind coming off the still ice
covered lake, Mamette Lake seemed like a good choice.
