The Canon 30D is a nice camera... but then so are the M8, L1, D3 and various Oly's. In fact the M8 is superb ... easily up to the DMR in image quality... but then you'd need a new "whack" of glass! If you can live with the smaller finders in the 4/3rds cameras, the coming Oly 510 looks very nice. I think that's the way I would have gone, but, for me, the finders were too small, and too visually "distant" to use the MF Telyt 400/6.8 w/2x... a combo I use a lot! FWIW: the spot metering on the 30D is not great ... certainly nowhere near R5 levels, let alone R8/9. But the center weighted metering works quite well. Personally, I am hoping for the R10 to come out in an R8 sized package... without the add-ons for winder/motor/DMR. I could live with that size/weight as a trade-off for finder brilliance and image quality. Keep us posted on what you decide for a "walk around", will you?
