I was honoured to be asked to MC the "Celebration of Life", for our friend,
Tom Abahamsson, in Vancouver, last Friday. People came from Europe, Asia and
all across North America.
(For those who do not know Tom, he both invented and built the RapidWinders
for Leica film cameras. See

After the "do" (photos of that to be posted later) we all took a 20 minute
walk, out to Tom's "Test Root" - a large tree root that washed up on the
beach, decades ago. Tom used it as a subject when testing/comparing lenses.
As we were walking back, a young lad from Ethiopia (the adopted son of one of
the couples there; and a great kid) came from behind, running by me while
calling something to his mother.
I spun around and got the shot - which amazed even me! Fortunately, I had
not reset my ISO from being indoors (too much on my mind), so it was still at
1600 and thus I had a shutter speed, of 1/2,500th, which helped to capture
the action.

I think it's my favourite shot from the day.
What to you think?
David.
