Last Monday, I was amused by one chap.
He sat in his car, reading a paperback novel, seemingly ignoring the eclipse
until about 10 minutes before totality. Then, in a panic, he got out his
tripod and kit. I saw him holding a solar filter suitable for an 8 to 10 inch
telescope, yet when I looked again, he had his camera with what looked like a
28 to 80mm zoom.
I did not watch him during totality ... I had better things to do with my 148
seconds.
But, after shooting the diamond ring, I glanced up to see him madly throwing
his gear in the trunk (boot, if you prefer) of his car, trying to beat the rush
and be the first to leave.
It made me wonder why he came!
Aram showed a great series of people watching the eclipse. I have only one of
the crowd ...

But our area was packed. My guess is around 8,000 in our tiny area, and about
20,000 down in Glendo (pop. 203).
This will give you a small idea of the crowd.

Thanks for looking.
David.
