Hi Peter S,
Tampa, on Ridgewood Ave near Columbus Drive, a block up from the Hillsborough
River. My dad was a reporter and editor for the Tampa Morning Tribune.
I was just joking or guessing about the heron but I "knew” there was one in the
neighborhood. There always is in that sort of place, or at least there used to
be. I am delighted to know there really was one there!

Funny that you should say that, Bill. I wasn’t being snarky/sarcastic about
the tourist from Michigan in the title - a group of them piled out their car
when they saw me stopped on the dirt road going through the park and wanted
to know what I was doing and if I could tell them how to get back to the
highway. They were a friendly bunch but loud, and their racket spooked a GB
Heron that was just to the right of the edge of the image. I took the shot
after both the Heron and my “friends” got back in their car and left in
opposite directions. :) I drive this road several times every day and that
little gator has taken up “residence” in that little clearing for nap time
between noon and 1:30pm every day for a month now.
Nice to know that you’re a native, too, Bill. Where in the state did you grow
up? I’m originally from down in Fort Myers.
Best regards,
Peter S.

Peter,
I’m a native Floridian and it is nice to see all the cypress knees. But the
Great Blue Heron must have been on break when you were there.
Thanks,
Bill

Hiya. Ok, it’s not an Ansel Adams or even a David Young; but it is a
typical view of a “neighborhood” nearby here in Florida. :)
