Wednesday flowers... and berry feasts

Spring comes early in the San Francisco Bay Area. Wild residents come out to enjoy the weather and look for tidbits. Common birds you wouldn't think twice to look at eat colorful foods and make themselves worth watching.

A lowly house sparrow looked for nectar in pink blossoms:

This American robin perched within easy reach of his snack. In between scanning for predators he quickly bent down and gobbled bright red berries like they were miniature malted milk balls:
