Closely allied to the casual portrait, where you only spend a very short
time with the subject. Ric's variant, and a worthy one, is to make contact
with a new person, and produce an impromptu photograph quickly with no set
up.
Every bit as interesting as trying to find a 'decisive moment' while
pretending to be invisible.

sometimes the subject cooperates

arose after chatter by some that it's not really street photography if  
the subject makes eye contact.

i think that's bs, but it was easier to invent a new name;^)
