After studying Anthony’s excellent observations of the varying populations of Longspurs in the newsletter, I was inspired to send out this photograph of the only Longspur we’ve ever seen. A few weeks ago, when we were all chasing Cranes, we also explored the west 82nd dirt road. We happily discovered quite a few Horned Larks. It wasn’t until I downloaded the images that I discovered the Longspur. After consulting with several resources, we concluded we had a Lapland. I went out again yesterday morning in hopes of seeing more but no luck. The Larks were still there, however. See ya out there.
