Greetings All:
The White River Lake CBC will be held on Saturday, 28 December 2019.
We will meet at the White River Lake Marina at 7:30 AM, will bird
until 4:30 PM or so, will meet up at the Marina by 5:00, and then will
head back to Jeremy Clark's place in Lubbock for supper and the
countdown. There is a lake fee of $7.00 but LEAS will be covering
that so ... no worries. The Clarks will be providing main dishes but
folks are encouraged to bring some sort of treat and any beverages
they may require. The circle is divided into five routes and, ideally,
I hope to gather together five team leaders and ten additional
counters. So far I have:
Area One - Eastern region - Anthony Hewetson, Lena Zappia
Area Two - The Great North Woods - Rich Kostecke, Brandon Best
Area Three - East side of the lake - Phillip Kite, Jeremy Clark,
Manuel De Leon, Patsy Malin
Area Four - West side of the lake - Rob Lee, Drew Harvey, Barry Keith,
Area Five - South and west - Jim Crites, Jan Jannett
We have had a little bit of winter during the last week, I am told
water levels are goodish at the lake, and I think it will be a pretty
good count in terms of diversity and highlights - this may be the year
that this count beats the Lubbock County CBC in terms of species
count! I do my best to assure that every route has some habitat
diversity and, in my opinion, the dinner/potluck is a lot of fun with
people getting a chance to visit with seldom-seen friends and to meet
new birding enthusiasts.

join between now and the count will be assigned to one of the lake
routes ... and we could use more counters.
