Greetings All:
Sheri Anderson and I were relieved to hear that folk were finding
warblers in Lubbock County because, after visits to three good sites
in Hale County and over twenty good sites in Motley County -
throughout the course of the whole darn day, the only warbler we found
was a single Common Yellowthroat at the FM 789 Wetlands in Hale
County. To be true, migrant songbirds were sparse though we did
stumble across some contopid flycatchers and some empid flycatchers.
For those interested in wetland species, water has fallen spottily at
spots in Hale, Floyd, and Motley County but ducks, shorebirds, and
waders were sparse - perhaps a case of too little, too late.
