Thanks Anthony. I just got home after birding Buffalo Lake and added notes
to my observation. They are as follows: "Immature. Seen on the V8 side of
the road where the water crosses under to/from Buffalo Lake (33.526162,
-101.728038). Birding was not the intention, so no camera on me at the
time. Rolled up to the creek on a gas-powered ATV and the bird stood up,
showing itself in front of us. After observing for some time, we turned the
ATV on to leave again and the bird flew slightly downstream, further onto
private property out of view. I returned several hours later to see if the
bird was in view from the road, but it was not."
Hopefully the bird will stick around the area for folks interested. I did
notice the lake by the campground on the other side of the road had some
good wading bird activity in the evening, so it's worth checking over there
as well. There's enough of a pull-off to get out and use binoculars so you
don't have to pay the ridiculous $15 entry fee. Birds around the edges and
in the cattails included: great and snowy egrets, black-crowned
night-herons, white-faced ibises, and green herons. So make sure to give
the shoreline a scan if you go looking out that way.

it, I would very much appreciate that they post time and location to
the listserv. There are some folk whose work schedule is not going to
permit a search until tomorrow afternoon/prevening and these folk
would really appreciate knowing where and when the bird has been
relocated.
