CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS/PARTICIPANTS:
Clyde May of Tahoka Lake Pasture (TLP) requested LEAS conduct a
quasi-Christmas Bird Count on her property this year. The request was made
on October 10, 2020 at the LEAS bird walk guided by Manuel DeLeon.
A quasi-CBC is scheduled for Saturday, December 26, 2020 at Tahoka Lake
Pasture (TLP). This will be a 4-5 hour effort commencing at 8:30 am. A
circle is being drawn up by Manuel DeLeon who is familiar with the property
and area. While the focus of the effort will be Tahoka Lake Pasture (TLP),
there may be opportunities along county roads or other adjacent properties
we may gain access to.
Very small groups will work in assigned areas. No carpooling. Masks and
social distancing required.
The effort will be conducted in a format similar to a CBC. If you’ve never
participated in a CBC, this would be a good opportunity to enjoy an outing
for the experience. Birders of all levels of experience are invited. Would
love to have some experienced birders to lead. This is a wonderful
opportunity to get out to Tahoka Lake Pasture again and also contribute
data to Clyde May.
Whether this ever becomes an official CBC or simply serves as an
“in-between” quasi-CBC for those who would like to get in some additional
birding (much like a bird walk), we hope to make this effort an annual
event.
Realizing this is short notice, please reply to me as soon as possible by
calling, texting or emailing to indicate your interest in participating.
Reach out if you have questions. Details about meeting and following Manuel
DeLeon into the property will be sent to those participating.
To reiterate, this is a quasi-Christmas Bird Count. The results will not be
submitted in any official way. Only Clyde May will ultimately receive our
compilation of findings from the day of discovery and fun.
