My husband surprised me with a birding day trip to Dickens Spring Park this
morning. This is a beautiful park, if you have never been. We stayed down in
the ravine, by the spring/creek, almost the whole time. I think I would have
actually seen more of the birds I was hearing if we had stayed up top. Next
time. 😊
I heard looooots of birds that I couldn’t ID (I did record a few), but did
manage to spot 2 new birds (for me):
2 Rufous Hummingbird (1 female and 1 immature male, I think)
3 Turkey vulture
1 Swainson’s hawk
2 Least Flycatcher
1 Blue jay
1 Black-crested titmouse (spotting credit goes to my husband, Don)
5 Lesser Goldfinch (2 males, 3 females)
1 Bullock’s oriole (immature male)
3 Northern Cardinal
8 House finches
5 or 6 What-was-That?
2 Mississippi kite (flying over the highway close to the park)
