I went to Buffalo Lake this afternoon to try and find the loons - to no
avail. It was incredibly windy. I did see an interesting merganser on the far
side of the like from the dam area, in the VERY North, NorthEast Corner. It
was too far even for my scope so I 'Swacked (my term for bushwacking) over
there and confirmed it was indeed a red-breasted. As I was 'swacking through
the mesquite and thorny things, I heard a familiar call this season, and to
my surprise had a Golden-crowned Kinglet in a shrub along the lake... very
strange place for one.They are having an awesome year here in the region. On
Saturday at Dickens Springs I had 5!!!
